First up are the magnetic wooden train sets that all of us rushed to during play time in Kindergarten. These were the epitome of cool. If you didn't play with this then you had to play with the giant blocks which weren't too cool.

I sadly admit that I had an epic rattail when I was a kid. I was proud of it too. Why my parents let me grow it, I will never know. I remember the day when my mom decided to cut it off. I wasn't happy at all. I kicked and screamed and cried all day. She at least let me keep the rattail which I hid inside my big-wheel. If you had a rattail, you were automatically a cool-kid.

Everyone remembers Banana-Flavoured Penicillin or "Banana Medicine". Like most people, I pretended that I was sick just to get it. I am almost positive that banana medicine is the main cause of drug addiction for people my age. Though cherry cough syrup was delicious, banana-medicine always had the edge. It was a sad day when we found out my dad was allergic to penicillin...we could no longer have it in fear that his head would swell up to the size of a basketball if we kissed him goodnight.

Glad to see more and more counter-protesters stepping up against the Westboro Church. It's an interesting read over at Colorado Daily

Comedic genius Robin Williams recently called Australians english rednecks. The Aussies took it with a grain of salt, however their PM told Williams to check out Alabama if he wants a clear indication of what true rednecks are. Of course, Alabamians overheard this and took offense and spat back comments towards PM Rudd (makes sense). However, to our delight, this has now turned into a giant redneck war. Personally, I don't see Australia as a redneck country (Williams was only telling a joke anyway and should have taken it on the chin like how most us Canadians do), however Alabama should tone down on the country bumpkin persona.

Well, Can't just NOT say something about Glenn Beck. Above is a picture of him jerking off the two invisible cocks of sacred Republican Party.

Lastly, a bit off-topic, but the day we pretend to care about the Earth came and went yesterday. I heard a lot of talk about the documentary 'The Cove'. It's a good documentary (a bit bias though) that attempts to expose the mistreatment of dolphins in Japan. As these soon to be extinct creatures begin to disappear, we all need to become aware of how much we depend on animals in the ocean. Last night, I watched an even better documentary called 'Sharkwater'. I was shocked at how WORSE these creatures are treated and no one seems to give a shit. THE GREAT WHITE SHARK IS ALMOST EXTINCT!

I'm speechless...why is this a fetish?! Where's the appeal! I can only say WTF.

Here's a wasted guy at Coachella trying so hard to put his sandles on. Sometimes after 50 drinks, even the simplest of tasks are the most difficult.

Finally, there is this clever response to an anti-abortion ad. I, myself am a proud Dad who feels so happy to have his daughter in his life, but the WTF goes to people spending money to place shitty propaganda ads around the city for the sole purpose of shoving their opinions and beliefs down people's throats. Most people don't give two-shits if you have a child or not, why should they care if you decide not to keep it. Touchy subject, yes, but people have the freedom to decide and without knowing the circumstance, people shouldn't judge someones decision.

So I was one of the lucky few who's flight wasn't affected by the Icelandic volcano last week. NASA has just released images of the volcanic ash taken from space. It's quite the sight, check it out on Spaceflightnow.com

Last week, Obama announced that the US plans to send humans to Mars in the mid-2030's. First, they will land on an astroid which is also groundbreaking. This is so exciting! I am back after a week in Cuba! I've had a lot of time to reminisce about cool childhood memes and products. Now, back in Canada, the weather is warming up. So it is only fitting to start off this week was the coolest of the cool toys to own. The Super Soaker 50. Soaker is an overstatement, but it was still a huge step-up from standard squirt guns. Everyone had at least one of these. I think I personally owned the Super Soaker 360 (you were able to change the direction of the jet and squirt a friend without even aiming at him!).

Everyone knew someone who owned one of these OR owned them themselves. They really did nothing but slightly cut off the circulation in your foot if you pumped them too much. When I think back to the early 90's when these were big (and I mean big), I don't remember impersonating Michael Jordan doing a spin-around slam dunk, NO, I just remember everyone gathering around in the classroom circle pumping the shoes of whoever was wearing them.

I will finish off with a personal favourite. An amazing video game called "Wonderboy In Monster Land". In my opinion, it's one of the best games ever made for the Sega Master System. It was hard, fun, and the graphics were actually pretty good for its time. I recommend playing this gem if you have an emulator of sorts. You fight dragons, monsters, snakes whilst wielding swords and wearing armour and shit!

I came across this Danny Trejo look-a-like on Youtube speaking out against that anti-gay prop 8 commercial last year. He makes some great points and simply picks apart the propaganda. Unfortunately, homosexuals still cannot marry in California because the state voted to take a step backward in evolution. What scares me, is the fact that this proves that most Americans believe this hogwash! I now picture most Californians as overweight with bad dye-jobs watching Jerry Springer wielding their miniature American Flags...with wraaaassssslin' posters everywhere.

I find the ideas of black holes fascinating. The folks over at New Scientist have constructed a video that illustrated what it would look like if you were to fall into a black hole. The result is unbelievable. Of course you would probably be squished to nothingness if you were actually able to see it.

Next up is my favourite - shit getting smashed and blowing up. Well, actually the more sophisticated way of saying it is that National Geographic have put together an animated dramatization of huge catastrophic galactic collisions. Make sure to drink this while drinking a beer and yelling "Whhoooooooaaaahhh!!!"

I found this pretty cool. Russian Astronauts have constructed a simulated mock-up of Mars. For 520 days, they will fly in a simulated spaceship and land on the surface and live in a six-person chamber...this of course to prepare for the actual mission to Mars sometime in the 2020's.

So in 1988 Fraggle Rock was all the buzz. What I remember in my Ninja Turtle-bike riding-fort-making days are these little toys. They seemed to be so cool - I mean a carrot car? Come on! Now you can find them at almost every Value Village in a baggy of assorted toys.

Your parents probably didn't love you if you didn't own one of these. I believe I still have mine lying around somewhere. For nostalgia's sake, I can't find the heart to throw it away. Who here didn't draw their names all over it...that big house located off road on the north end of the map was totally "Ryan's house".

Finally, there was this guy. The Hulk Hogan wrestling buddy. Not only worked as a pillow or a friend to keep the monsters away at night, but was also someone you could vent your frustrations upon. A little elbow drop or suplex on this guy and everything felt so much better. Let's not forget sleepovers - it would be three or four of your friends vs. the wrestling buddy...a small twin mattress as the ring.

I remember being so attached to mine when I was a kid, my sister used to make fun of me about it. I remember specifically her yelling out loud at school "at least I don't sleep with a wrestling buddy every night!" I then replied "That's not true! She's lying" ...she wasn't lying.

Those unfamiliar with these comments, I believe it started on 4chan but popularized on reddit.com based on every day frustration - rehashing the same drawings and slightly altering them to create new stories. Just to give you Space n00bs an idea of just how small we are. Take a look at the above video. It shows the most massive known stars and planets in the known universe. When I first saw it, it blew my fucking mind.

Next up are two moons in our solar system (Jupiter's Europa & Saturn's Titan). Both have strong evidence that liquid water can be under their icy surfaces. Is it me, or does Europa look like one of those giant marbles you never liked playing in fear you would lose it? Anyway, interesting read from Dailygalaxy.com

First on the list is Dr. Dreadful's Food Lab. It was the most wanted toy of all my friends growing up. However, I hope we can all agree that it tasted like absolute shit. None of the gummies turned out the way we wanted them. Sure, it was cool to make sugary spiders and sweet goo, but this toy just ended up being a huge mess to clean up after an anticlimactic treat tasting. Good ol' Dr. Dreadful ended up at the bottom of our closets with half the pieces missing only to be never touched again.

A show I used to watch religiously when I was a kid. Pro Stars had three main stars: Wayne Gretzky, Bo Jackson, and Michael Jordan. None of them provided voices for their actual cartoon. Michael Jordan was their leader. He dabbled in sciences. He had the brains of Mcguyver, but the physical appearance of an athlete! Bo Jackson was the strong muscle guy. Finally, Wayne Gretzky was the always hungry comic relief...which I don't understand. I can't remembr Wayne Gretzky in real life having any sort of funnybone in him or a personality too. Oh well, we were kids, what did WE know.

The cereal was great though...

Lastly was this motherfucker, Alphie. Mine didn't last long because I thought I could take him into the bath with me. He taught basic math and spelling skills and would speak and light up. Not only was he a positive influence in my life...but a great friend as well.

I miss you Alphie.
